The Font Archives Vol. 17 is here! I’ve wanted to do this volume on script fonts for so long. They’ve been a staple in my designs recently, and these are some of my favorites. Bonus: all are Adobe fonts!⁠ My favorite of these is definitely Rizado—which should be clear, since I used it in the design for Æther. Which one would you use?⁠

HWT roman extended
No. 1 Rizado Script Regular

Rizado Script is a classy one-weight script typeface, made with “dolce vita” in mind. Its high contrast and pointy tone are recalling the fine nib handwriting of a meticulous and decisive person that hasn’t got free time to spare but surely knows how to enjoy his life.

No. 2 P22 Allyson Pro Regular

P22 Allyson is based on an old metal font by Barnhart Bros. & Spindler named Hazel Script. This font is perfect for elegant invitations and certificates.

No. 3 Compendium

Before Louis Madarasz awed the American Southeast with his disciplined corners and wild hairlines, Platt Rogers Spencer, up in Ohio, had laid down a style all his own, a style that would eventually become the groundwork for the veering calligraphic method that was later defined and developed by Madarasz.

No. 4 Medusa

Medusa is Ramiro Espinoza’s homage to one of the most renowned masters of Spanish calligraphy, Ramón Stirling, who was active in Barcelona during the 19th century.
